WORDS:  A Festival of Literacy and Creative Arts

Saturday, October 2, 2010. 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.

The College of St. Rose, Thelma P. Lally School of Education

For families, teachers, and all members of the community interested in integrating literacy and the arts.

  • Inspiring keynote address by Coretta Scott King Award winning photographer and poet, Mr. Charles R. Smith, Jr.  www.charlesrsmithjr.com
  • Hands-on workshops including songwriting, Wordance, drama, art, and fantasy writing!
  • Motivating closing presentation by local students.
  • Unique intergenerational event.  Parents and teachers can learn how to inspire children’s writing and creativity.  Young authors can write, create, and work towards publishing in Skribbler’s Magazine.

Sponsored by Albany City Area Reading Council, Schoharie County Reading Council, Skribblers Magazine, The College of St. Rose, and the Greater Capital Region Teacher Center.

Only $5 per family/group.  Free with a St. Rose id card.  Scholarships available.

All children must be supervised by an adult throughout the event.

A certificate for 4 hours of professional development will be provided.

You have a terrific and informative blog! I started a blog for our reading in Illinois (LARC). I think this is a great example!
