The CCLS, Text Complexity & Close Reading

Wednesday, October 10, 2012

4:30-6:00

Sand Creek Middle School Library

329 Sand Creek Road, Albany

Linda Carr and Helen Stuetzel

Books, articles, and blogs are plentiful and offer multiple yet often conflicting viewpoints on text complexity and close reading.  Understandably, this is causing much angst among teachers and supervisors who want to know what these emphases mean for instruction.  In this session, we will present what we’ve learned in our investigation about text complexity and close reading referring to what the Common Core says and does not say, as well as what this means for instruction, K -12.  For those interested in further study of these topics, we will be offering two study group sessions that will explore the topic further on 11-13 and 12-4.
