Let’s celebrate our year of exciting PD with professional book talks and pizza as we prepare for summer.  Please join us for lively discussions of professional books and articles you might want to put on your summer reading list!

Sure, writing is rewarding when it goes well. But when it doesn’t: yikes! Join Chris Lehman in studying several keys to keeping your writing workshop and community humming. From ways to build our own confidence, to engaging students—even the hard to reach ones.  Chris, author of Falling in Love with Close Reading, Energize Research Reading and Writing, and A Quick Guide to Reviving Disengaged Writers, will support you with practical, inspiring, (and fun) strategies to support all of your writers.

Francis P. Hodge, champion of Children’s Literature, passed away on November 5, 2018.  Some of us were fortunate to have Frank as our Children’s Lit professor at SUNY Albany.  Others, know Frank as owner of Hodge-Podge Books on Lark Street and his amazing events over the years, Let the Reading Begin!

Please join ACARC and the University at Albany’s Department of Literacy Teaching and Learning in celebrating Frank’s memory by donating a new children’s book or to Grass Root Givers in Franks’s name.  More information will be shared at our Best Books event!  Hope to see you there!
