New Books for New Homes
The 2017-2018 New Books for Families Campaign
Albany City Area Reading Council is expanding our New Books for New Homes Campaign to become New Books for Families. In collaboration with The Book House, Market Block Books, Habitat for Humanity Capital District, and Troy and Schenectady schools, we are collecting books for Habitat new homes and for families to read to their pre-school children. Recipients will be Habitat’s new homeowners and families of preschoolers at School 2 in Troy and Pleasant Valley in Schenectady. In the 6 years of New Books for New Homes, we have provided about 1500 books to new homeowners. Let’s make our new campaign just as great!!!

Habitat for Humanity uses volunteer labor and donations of money and materials to provide affordable homeownership to those people who would not otherwise have that opportunity. Habitat creates systemic social change by giving the economically disenfranchised the tools necessary to break the cycle of poverty. Established in 1988, HfHCD is an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International serving Albany, Rensselaer and southern Saratoga Counties, NY. For more information, please visit www.HabitatCD.org.
